Dr. Allen did her doctoral thesis on thyroid disorders. For the obstetrics/pediatrics internship she did another thesis on postpartum thyroid problems. She has several hundred patients she is following with a variety of thyroid problems. She has attended extensive training and read lots of books and research papers. With her previous background in social work, she is especially adept at dealing with cases where there is depression and/or anxiety. She feels that there is a clear metabolic reason why some people with thyroid disorders often do not respond well to antidepressant medications.
